Steve, when will your jazz lesson DVD come out?

    Hi Steve!
… only a question … I am completely new to piano (just bought a piano keyboard two days ago!) … and I would like first to start by myself to gain a bit of confidence before going next year to some private lessons. Your method sounds very interesting but my question is could it be suitable for a total beginner? Would you suggest it to me?
    I don’t know anything!

    Thanks in advance,

      Hi Roberto,
I would highly recommend taking some private lessons either online or with a teacher. A great teacher can save you years of time. It’s money well spent. There’s no way I would have developed my own skills without great teachers 🙂

Hi Steve, steadily working my way through the Zero to Jazz Hero DVD Course and I’m picking it up really fast and making my own progressions now! Its a revelation and I am amazed at how some certain chords revert back to the tonic chord so easily such as the V back to the iMaj7. Cheers mate your a star!

      Hi Stephen,
Thanks so much for the kind words! So happy to hear you’re enjoying the program. It’s so cool how so many chords just have that magnetic pull right? Anyway, thanks again and I look forward to sharing music with you further!

    Hello Steve,
I’m visiting your site for the first time today and already learned some great stuff. I’m looking forward to working through all of the lessons. I like playing from fake books and see that you have 5 listed. You note that you work from Jazz of the 50’s daily. Which one would you recommend I start with?

    • Steve Nixon (freejazzlessons) on February 18, 2017 at 3:54 pm

      Hey CF,
Find the fake book that has the tunes that you love the most. It’s a good idea to start with tunes you love because it keeps you motivated.
