Who Is Joey Defrancesco?
Joey Defrancesco is simply one of the greatest jazz musicians alive today! As just one example, Down Beat’s Critics and Readers Poll has selected him as the top jazz organist every year since 2003. He has also been nicknamed “The Finest Jazz Organist On The Planet”.
Join me as we discuss a variety of incredibly insightful topics such as how to learn jazz by listening, bebop, transcribing, groove, phrasing, jazz history, organ technique, playing out, playing by ear, and more.
Also, we discuss the influence of Miles Davis (who Joey recorded and toured with at age 17), Charlie Parker Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Mcgriff, Don Patterson, Larry Coryell, Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, John Coltrane, Sonny Stitt, and many more.
(We’ve done lessons based of several of the players above on this site already. If you’re new here be sure to also check out the links for these lessons.)
Joey Defranseco’s Awesome New Organ
Joey’s new B-3 organ that he helped design and develop is the new Studiologic Numa Organ.
I’ve seen Joey burn on it and sounds and looks incredible. I can’t wait to go get one.
If it’s good enough for Joey it’s definitely good enough for us all Studiologic Numa Organ.
